{"id":220,"date":"2012-02-05T16:30:00","date_gmt":"2012-02-05T22:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/barkadacircle.com\/?p=220"},"modified":"2012-02-05T16:30:00","modified_gmt":"2012-02-05T22:30:00","slug":"innovation-for-inspired-storytelling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/barkadacircle.com\/blog\/2012\/02\/05\/innovation-for-inspired-storytelling\/","title":{"rendered":"Innovation for inspired storytelling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A few weeks ago, I found this inspiring blog by <a href=\"http:\/\/metacool.typepad.com\/metacool\/\">Diego Rodriguez<\/a>, partner at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ideo.com\/\">IDEO<\/a>, where his work helps organizations bring breakthroughs to market.<\/p>\n<p>In his blog, Diego lists twenty <a href=\"http:\/\/metacool.typepad.com\/metacool\/2011\/12\/innovation-principles-by-markkula.html\">principles of innovation<\/a>. Each is a statement of truth that helps us cut through our clutter. It&#8217;s a slap in the face and an encouraging nod at the same time. It&#8217;s more than a mind shift. It even goes beyond what defines the culture of an organization. Rather it is a belief system that keeps you moving forward, willing to take risks and open to new possibilities.<\/p>\n<p>Two that resonate with me the most:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/metacool.typepad.com\/metacool\/2009\/04\/see-and-hear-with-the-mind-of-a-child.html\">&#8220;See and hear with the mind of a child.&#8221;<\/a>&#8212; without bias, without judgement, with infinite imagination<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/metacool.typepad.com\/metacool\/2009\/04\/3-always-ask-how-do-we-want-people-to-feel-after-they-experience-this.html\">&#8220;Always ask: How do we want people to feel after they experience this?&#8221;<\/a>&#8212; because they forget what you did or what you said, but they remember how you made them feel.<\/p>\n<p>Stories help us to feel. We live in a world more complicated than ever before. And the only way we can make sense of it is through stories. We can come to understand the nuances of a situation by connecting the dots in the same way characters weave through their struggles in a story.<\/p>\n<p>More importantly, innovation can be born out of a story. Experiencing the world and all its surprises will inspire any number of narratives.
